Happy Friday the 13th, everyone! Stay away from black cats and ladders, if you’re superstitious like that.

  1. My wife reminded me this morning that I was actually laid off from my last job the last time it was October, Friday the 13th.

My fondest memories of that place was when I would go outside to smoke, the coffee break conversations would usually start up by someone saying, “This fucking company…”

I actually enjoyed working there because I got to work with real hardcore geeks. Everybody else was either an electrical or mechanical engineer, and I had a lot of fun working with embedded software, microcontrollers and assembler now and then…

Then again, if I wasn’t laid off, I would have had the opportunity to do a lot of web stuff at my current company.

There you go. Even my bad luck turns into good luck.
